Fun facts

  • When I first met Sara, I thought I would change her name, as “Sara” didn’t really mean anything to me (I would have called her Chaos, a reflection of how my life unfolds). But once I got to know her, I was not able to change her name. Her personality was too strong and she is 20 years older than me. Who am I to change her name??
  • Sara has a celebrity crush: R/V Tara, the world-famous R/V from Tara Ocean Foundation. They have almost same name, just one letter away. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

  • At some point during the trip I will need to leave Sara somewhere and fly back to Lisbon to defend my PhD thesis.. Still not sure how I will find time to get prepared, but in my life things generally go well when are not overthought!
  • When I was born (1993), Sara was already sailing for 20 years!!
